Students will receive books, will have their spiral set up for class, and will begin taking notes concerning the purposes of writing and some different figurative language devices. Go to book room. Label sections of their spiral. Follow along with notes on the board. Pen/pencil Paper Tue. September 2 – Fri. September 5 THURS 8/29 Same as Weds. FRIDAY 8/30 Students will understand vocabulary in terms of decoding prefixes, suffixes, and roots. Students will identify and describe the effects of figurative language. Students will complete notes on the purposes of writing. Same as Weds. Students will complete exercises applying knowledge of new word roots. Students will write the devices used and describe their effects. Students will complete a grammar focused Do First in their spiral. Students will follow along and take notes from the board. Students will complete the “inventory of Grammatical knowledge” as the Do First. Students will take notes of word roots, prefixes, and suffixes.
