What are we learning?
Overview:
The chapter presents students with information about the rules of behavior that are
enforced to maintain social control. The chapter describes the nature and social functions
of deviance, behavior that violates social norms. Students are also given an overview of
crime, including the types of crimes, the sources of crime statistics, and the functioning of
the criminal-justice system.

I can analyze the criminal justice system in the United States in relation to deviant behavior
