3D Project Urban Paper Toy Concept: Introduction to 3D Paper Project to understand how Form fits into design by creating a 2D template that will be measured and designed to fold into a specific shape to form the final product. Process: Initial “sketch” will be created by students cutting a cube template and designing it using multiple drawing/painting materials to create a visually cohesive design. 8x10 copy paper. Craftsmanship concerns will be addressed by the following criteria: Template shape much be cut precisely (no jagged or rough edges) Template should be glued or taped together cleanly, to show no glue or tape. Etc… Final Design: Will be done on a large sheet of drawing paper. Students will learn how to re-create their sketch by doubling the size of it. They will create an original character or design that shows an understanding of the basics of lines, shape, color, and form. Use of multiple materials: color pencil, pencil, sharpie, watercolor, tempera… to show understanding of mixing medias. Starter Template below.
