Stage 1 – Desired Results Content Standard(s): Ceramics- Moveable Marionette Students will create a 3-D sculpture using the elements and principles of design. Students will increase technical and critical thinking through an understanding of process, concept and application. Understanding (s)/goals Students will understand that: -Color theory knowledge and application are essential to a complete 3-D sculpture -Proper care and attention must be given to interlocking pieces -Weight balance and visual cohesion are important in the creation of multi-part sculpture Essential Question(s): -How should pieces lock together for proper movement? -How does the weight balance? -How is color going to affect/enhance my piece? Student objectives (outcomes): Students will be able to: -Create a multi-component sculpture with proper balance and movement -Create a complete glazing that enhances the sculpture -Design an interlocking mechanism that allows for proper movement Performance Task(s): Stage 2 – Assessment Evidence Other Evidence: -Devise a way for multiple components to join together, while allowing for movement -Create a multi-component sculpture with continuity/clarity -Devise a unique glazing that strengthens the visuals of the marionette -Prior ceramic projects -Prior glazing -Basic color theory and knowledge Stage 3 – Learning Plan Learning Activities: Approximately 6 weeks Monday: Tuesday: Wednesday/Thursday: Friday: Week 1 Discussion of project, with sample.
