What are we learning?
Daily Objective: SWBAT graph simple quadratic functions.
TEKS/AP/Standards: 2A, 9A, 9B, 9C.
How will we learn it?
Learning Activities:
1. Warm Up – factoring trinomials.
2. Notes Graphing Quadratic Functions in the form y = ax2 + c. Go over vocabulary of a
parabola such as parent functions, vertex, axis of symmetry, and standard form y = ax2 + bx +
c. Show how to graph. Discuss how to compare the graph to the parent function y = x2.
Use vocabulary such as vertical stretch and vertical shrink, reflection across x-axis, vertical
translation up or down, and horizontal translation right or left.
3. Guided Practice – students will practice graphing a quadratic function and labeling all
parts, and comparing the function to the parent function y = x2.
4. Exit Ticket
How will we tell if we’re learning it correctly?
Assessment Methods: Exit Ticket.
Checks for Understanding: Teacher will facilitate and check answers to guided practice.

Materials: spiral notes, pencil, graph paper.

Follow Up/HW: finish guided practice problems.
