Daily Objective: I can review the synthesis essay in order to prepare for the AP
Exam.
TEKS/AP/Standards: Students will write in a variety of modes for a variety of
purposes.
Learning Activities:
Review AP Language Exam directions and time limits
Every student will create a basic testing plan
Review basic elements of the synthesis essay, including requirements, method for
approaching the question, and suggested writing format
Students will write the introduction, one body paragraph, and the conclusion to the
2008 Exam question, reviewing exemplar samples as a model
Time to ask final question on the synthesis essay will be given
Assessment Methods: Writing
Checks for Understanding: Writing
Materials: Copy of 2008 synthesis question
