Areas of Regular Polygons
Daily Objective: SWBAT calculate the area of regular polygons using the appropriate formula
TEKS/AP/Standards: G.1A, G.5A, G.8A, G.8C, G.9B, G.10B
How will we learn it?
Learning Activities:
Go over questions from packet over regular polygons. Show student’s common errors using
calculator and how to minimize this error.
How will we tell if we’re learning it correctly?
After guided practice, and checking for understanding. Will give a quiz over this topic. I
allowed students to use notes for this first attempt. Kids could come by for help during my
tutorial time if needed.

Materials: warm-up, notes, computer

Review for 11.4-11.6
Daily Objective: SWBAT find the circumference of a circle and the length of an arc, area of
sector and area of regular polygon
TEKS/AP/Standards: G.12.B, G.12.D, G.3.C, G.12.A, G.12.C
How will we learn it?
Review day
Warm Up
Use origami for area of regular polygons, and discuss real life examples of finding arc length
and area of sector.
How will we tell if we’re learning it correctly?
Assessment Methods: Exit ticket quiz over review
Checks for Understanding: Student’s work in pairs while I walk around to check for
understanding of review.
 Give students 5 minute increments to work together and then will bring class together to discuss the
review. Have student come up to SMART Board to present the solutions.
