Daily Objective: Students will be able to analyze a film adaptation and contrast the thematic
differences between the original text and the work inspired/based upon it.
Monday
TEKS/AP/Standards:
o To consider a work’s structure, style, and themes as well as such smaller scale
elements as the use of figurative language, imagery, symbolism, and tone.
o To study representative works from various genres and periods (from the sixteenth to the
twentieth century) and to know a few works extremely well.
Learning Activities:
o Watch My Fair Lady—while viewing, think about the following questions:
o What additions (songs, scenes) have been made to the text? How have these
changed the meaning of the work?
o Analyze how the actors and actresses chosen for the movie have reinforced the
characterization in Pygmalion or have changed characterization for
better/worse.
