Week of October 20-24, 2014 Weekly Learning Targets Teacher: Kindred Team: U.S. History I can describe the economic effects of WWI. I can evaluate the pros and cons of U.S. involvement in international organizations [League of Nations] and treaties [Treaty of Versailles] and defend a point of view with historical evidence. I can analyze how eugenics and racism/race relations led to distrust and discrimination as major issues during the 1920s and I can describe at least two results of these issues. I can analyze the causes of the changing role of women during the 1920s and describe at least three effects of those changing roles. Monday Activities: 1. Do Now- What was the turning point battle for the Allies in World War I? 2. Video Analysis: Wilson’s 14 Points- Students will analyze a short video clip that illustrates the purpose of Wilson’s plan for peace post-WWI and how the U.S. government reacted to his plan. 3. Document Analysis: Effects of World War I- In groups, students will analyze documents highlighting significant WWI documents, such as the Treaty of Versailles and Wilson’s 14 Points 4. Open Notes Quiz: World War I- Students will answer 10 multiple choice questions over World War I. Materials: Documents, quiz Follow Up/HW: Imperialism and World War I Quiz on FRIDAY Wed/Thur Activities: 1. Do Now- What were the M.A.I.N. causes of World War I? 2. World War I Guided Notes- Students will complete guided notes over the events of World War I. 3. World War I Mapping Activity- Students will finish and submit their World War I maps. Materials: Notes, maps Follow Up/HW: Imperialism and World War I Quiz on FRIDAY Tuesday I can analyze the causes and effects of the Great Migration during the years after World War I. Activities: 1. Do Now- What was point #14 in Wilson’s 14 Points? 2. The Roaring 20s Guided Notes- Students will take notes over major events and issues of the 1920s 3. Document Analysis: The Roaring 20s- In groups, students will analyze political cartoons focusing on Prohibition 4. 1920s Graphic Organizer: Causes and Effects of 1920s Social Issues- In groups, students will complete a graphic organizer that illustrates causes and effects of 1920s events and issues, such as Prohibition, evolution and racism. Materials: Documents, graphic organizers Follow Up/HW: Imperialism and World War I Quiz on FRIDAY Friday Activities: 1. Do Now- Take out a pencil and prepare for quiz. 2. Imperialism and World War I Quiz- Students will complete an 18 question Snapshot assessment covering Imperialism and World War I. Materials: Quiz Follow Up/HW: Next Test – Friday October 31
