SWBAT review solving quadratic equations using factoring and square roots with and without
complex numbers. SWBAT review operations of square roots and complex numbers.

Learning Activities:
1. Warm Up – Add & Subtract Complex numbers
2. Notes 4.6: Demonstrate how to multiply complex numbers. Use p. 277 Example 4a, b.
Demonstrate how to divide complex numbers. Use p. 278 Example 5
Guided Practice p. 278 # 11 – 14.
3. Study Guide over sections 4.4, 4.5, & 4.6 – Students will work in pairs/groups on the study
guide.
How will we tell if we’re learning it correctly?
Assessment Methods: teacher will facilitate and check answers, Exit Ticket
Checks for Understanding: work with a partner, teacher will circulate to check answers.
Work on Guided Practice p. 259 -262, handout 4.6

2. Students work in pairs/groups on study guide for Test # 9.
3. Whole class discussion over study guide/go over answers.
4. Notes 4.7: Complete the Square – Demonstrate how to solve a quadratic equation by
completing the square. Go over the formula for complete the square. Do example 3 on
p. 285 and example 4 on p. 286.
5. Guided Practice: p. 286 # 7 – 10.
6. Student Practice – students will practice problems using handout 4.7.
7. Exit Ticket – Complete the square.
