Stage 3 – Learning Plan
Monday Nov. 17
Objective: SWBAT show mastery on common assessment over matrices.
Activities: Warm Up: Questions over study guide.
Assessment: Common Assessment # 7.
Objective: SWBAT solve by factoring a trinomial in the form x2 + bx + c = 0.
SWBAT graph quadratics in standard form and identify axis of symmetry, x-intercepts,
minimum or maximum, vertex, and y-intercept.
Warm Up: think of two numbers that have a product of 20 and a sum of 9.
Activities: Section 4.3 Notes: Solve by factoring x2 + bx + c = 0. Demonstrate how to factor
and then show how to solve the quadratic.
Guided Practice: Students solve by factoring with a partner. Use Handout 4.3 or problems
from the textbook.
Section 4.1 Notes: Demonstrate how to graph a quadratic in standard form. Show how to find
the vertex, x-intercepts, y-intercept, minimum or maximum, axis of symmetry. Connect how
to solve by factoring to the x-intercepts.
Independent Practice: Handout 4.1
Assessment: Exit Ticket
Materials: Spiral Notes, handout 4.1, Handout 4.3
Follow Up/HW: finish handout 4.1 & 4.3
Objective: SWBAT show mastery on the Snapshot # 3.
Assessment: Snap Shot # 3
