 The AYF Consortium is composed of UW-Madison,
Michigan State University, University of Iowa and
University of Michigan
 Credit earned in Freiburg count as classes taken at
Michigan
 AYF students generally earn 27 credits or more during
their year in Freiburg
– Most AYF students return to the United States with
greatly improved German proficiency
– Most AYF students are double majors, earning many
German credits while abroad
– Students may take courses outside of the German
department to earn credit towards additional majors

Eligibility & Cost
 Eligibility
– 4 semesters of college-level German
– open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors
– 2.5 cumulative GPA; 3.0 in German classes
 Cost (2015-16)
– Michigan tuition plus a program fee ($6.200)
– plus cost-of living, flight, personal expenses
