Savannah State University Position Description – Athletics Audiovisual Coordinator POSITION DESCRIPTION: Position Title: Athletics Audiovisual Coordinator Reports To: FLSA Status: Exempt Asst. Athletics Director for Media Relations Department: Athletics Date Prepared: May, 2015 BASIC FUNCTION The Audiovisual Coordinator is a part of the SSU Athletics staff in the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics, and is responsible for planning, editing and producing all videography used by the University’s Athletics Department. This position serves as the athletics video coordinator. NATURE & SCOPE Reporting directly to the Assistant Athletics Director for Media Relations, the Audiovisual Coordinator is the primary video coordinator for the SSU football team. This position may be required to maintain flexible work schedules to accommodate weekend or evening assignments. The athletic video coordinator must stay abreast of changes in technology, football strategy, video editing, computers, projectors, videography, and hydraulic scissor trucks, and have access to a pickup truck for daily gear transport. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Plan, edit and produce all videography used by the Athletics Department Assign similar activities to other staff Serve as primary video coordinator for SSU football team Provide daily gear transport SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED B.A. or B.S. in communications or a related field and one to three years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Must be able to work flexible hours to accommodate weekend or evening shifts. Must be able to operate heavy machinery and have extensive knowledge of all AV hardware. Access to a pickup truck is required. This position is subject to a comprehensive background check, with employment contingent upon satisfactory results. A DMV report is required for access to a University vehicle; valid driver’s license is also required.
