Contingency plan for –80 freezer The –80 degree freezer designated for storage of human tissue is freezer number 6 in 2A1. The freezer is to be kept locked at all times and samples to be booked in and out by designated people only. The key holders who are also designated persons are Julia Horwood j.horwood@sussex.ac.uk for Dr E.M.Hills group Lynne Mayne l.mayne@sussex.ac.uk for any other group Extra key holder for mechanical problems that do not require movement of samples Ray Francke r.a.francke@sussex.ac.uk The freezer is on a service contract so any potential problems should be minimised. It’s temperature is monitored 24/7 with details on a Lifescience webpage Julia and Ray access regularly to check for temperature fluctuations. There is an automatic call out if the alarm is set off, again on a 24/7 coverage, and freezer space available in a second lockable freezer if the samples have to be moved in an emergency till the next working day.
