Pick any two problems and solve using Matlab/Freemat. Add FBD to your code printouts. (FBD each problem)
Part I. Drills -- 1 point each
Part II. Assisted Problem Solving -- 2 points each
Plan: There are several ways to solve this
1) We don’t know which cable has more tension, so
2) Assume Fab is at 50 lb, express Fab in cartesian
3) Determine Fac that balances x-component of Fab
4) If Fac is greater than 50, set Fac to 50 and find Fab
5) Otherwise, continue to solve for W, weight.
PLAN:
1) Using position vectors, find Uca, Ucb, Ucd
2) Apply unknown force magnitudes Fca, Fcb, Fcd
to these unit vectors, now have 3 force vectors
3) Find resultant of 4 vectors (3 forces, 1 weight) = 0
4) Solve system of equations for 3 force magnitudes
