What we need from you…
• Think Creatively
• Can we enhance the report to remove downstream processing
and formatting?
• Can we consolidate/standardize reports and use prompts & filters
to provide flexibility of use and prevent report proliferation?
• Can a dashboard or proactive alerting process eliminate the need
to review detailed reports?

• What decisions are being made from these reports?
• Can we simplify?
• Can we deliver information directly into the hands of those who
need it?

• Think Critically

• Which of the following items have been considered to utilize the capabilities of
the new reporting environment:
• Standardization (to reduce multiple versions) by incorporating additional filters
and parameters (user-based session variables, row filtering, column filtering,
presentation options at run-time)
• Aggregation and drill-down paths
• Visualizations (charts, graphs, etc.)
• Exception reporting and alerts to automate monitoring processes

• How is the data/information in the request used today (reconciliation,
monitoring, decision-making, external reporting)?
• Who is making decisions based on this information and what decisions are
being made?
• Is the information consumed as is out of Discoverer or is there further
manipulation, summarization, aggregation, cleansing, grouping, and/or data
joins done outside of Discoverer (in Excel or elsewhere)?
• Are there multiple versions/flavors of this “report” used across Grounds? If so,
what causes the variation? Filters, aggregation and grouping levels, timing, etc.
• Is this information used for External Reporting of any type (Federal, State,
Sponsor, Accrediting Body, BOV, etc.)?
