Free software from Microsoft 2008/02/19 MPC’s CSIS Department can give certain Microsoft developer products to CSIS students for free: Visual Studio 2005, MS Access 2003, SharePoint Designer, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista Business, and Windows XP. The steps: 1) Your teacher will collect your e-mail address. 2) The PC Tech will import the e-mail addresses into the Microsoft system. The MS system will send you an e-mail. The e-mail looks like spam. Here is a sample: 3) The Student will follow the URL in the e-mail, log in with the password, and order the software. The site uses a shopping cart, just like any on-line store. To order Visual Studio 2005, order both CDs. The order page looks like this: Order by clicking the icons of the software you want. Follow the steps and then the shopping cart page appears, looking something like this: 4) Click on the product name to get the detailed installation information below. 5) Print the detailed installation page for each product ordered: 6) Bring the printed detail installation page(s) to the PC Tech, plus 1 blank CD-R (or $1) for each product ordered, except Vista which requires 1 blank DVD-R or DVD+R and Visual Studio which requires 2 blank DVD-Rs (or $2) or 5 blank CD-Rs (or $5.) The PC Tech will swap the software CDs/DVDs for your blank CDs/DVDs or dollars. You will keep the printed detail page because it has your serial # which you need to install. You should also keep the original e-mail in order to go back to the site. The PC Tech is Steve Bruemmer. His desk is in the back of BC202. Contact him at sbruemmer@mpc.edu.
