Presentation Guidelines
Rehearsal Date: You should prepare your presentation prior to your final date, and you may
request a “run-through” presentation with your mentor teacher in advance of your final
presentation.
*Note: A few outstanding presentations may be selected to re-present in the auditorium to a 7th
grade audience at a later date.
Presentation Dates: You will sign up with your mentor teacher for a designated time slot to
present in your study labs on March 23rd, March 25th, or March 27th; there will also be a few times
available to present after school on those same dates.
Requirements for the Presentation:
 6 – 10 minutes for an individual
 10 – 14 minutes for a group (ALL group members must speak)
 Written report / script / PowerPoint / trifold board to anchor the presentation. This should
reflect your mastery of the project objectives (see rubrics) and should include:
o Explaining your goal to address a need within a community
o Discussing what you learned about your goal/need through your research
o Explaining your action plan and any adaptations or changes you made to it along the
way
o Explain what happened when you actually took action (including unforeseen
challenges, hindrances, etc)
o Reflect: Discuss how completing the project has extended your knowledge and
understanding of service learning. Evaluate the quality of your service as action (how
did it go?).
**Note: Think about how to convey your message in the most interesting way (videos, interactive
websites, audience participation). Don’t just read PowerPoint slides aloud.
At the time of the presentation, you will need to turn in:
 A completed academic honesty form for each student
 Your proposal for action
 Process journal extracts (up to 10 for an individual; up to 15 for a group)
 Your report, PowerPoint, trifold – whatever you used in your presentation
 Your bibliography, typed and printed (MLA format)
