Summer work directions, 2015
Hello students!
Believe it or not, even though IB Bio is a two-year course, it is still a challenge to complete all of the work within two school years! So this summer you will complete the biotechnology unit. This is the shortest unit for IB Biology, and although the methods of biotechnology are somewhat complex, the IB curriculum focuses on the general ideas behind the methods and how they are used, not on the detailed understanding of methods.
I will be collecting your email address so that I can send you links to online lectures and animations.
Materials:

Photocopied section from IB Biology Textbook (3.5 Genetic modification and biotechnology)

Photocopied section from green IB Biology Study Guide (DNA profiling, Genetic modification,
Cloning)

IB objectives packet (4.4 Genetic engineering and biotechnology)

Links provided through email by June 22: o Animations o Lectures
Assignments:

Watch video lectures and animations.

Carefully read both the IB textbook and the IB study guide.

Complete the IB objectives packet
The due date and deadline for summer work is Tuesday, September 1. This is a formative assignment.
There will be a summative test on the content on Tuesday, September 8.
Please do not hesitate to contact me via email with any questions about content or the assignment.
Please email me if you have not received the links to the lectures and animations by June 22.
You can also contact me if you misplace your photocopied textbook materials; I can arrange to send you a replacement.
