Walt Whitman High School, 2015-2016 School Improvement Plan Student and Stakeholder Focus Based on …… data analysis and input from stakeholders, the instructional focus at Walt Whitman High School for 2015 – 2016 is: All teachers will engage students regularly in academic conversations to develop understanding of the mastery objective. Faculty and Staff Focus Based on data analysis, staff professional learning will focus on the following areas: Staff: Writing mastery objectives Purposefully planning academic conversations Purposefully planning checks for understanding / assessments to measure student learning Leaders: coaching conversations meaningful feedback use of focused informal classroom observation data to enhance reflective discussions with staff data review and analysis post-observation feedback and incorporating SLOs in evaluations Leadership Mission: Walt Whitman High School prepares our students for the rigorous demands of the academic and work worlds so that they may reach their potential as self-directed, creative, and socially responsible individuals. Strategic Planning Literacy Goal: To increase the percentage of students earning a C or higher in English 9 by 5% across all student demographic groups with a particular emphasis on Black and Hispanic students. Semester 1: Asian 95% to 100%, Black 94.3% to 99.3%, Hispanic 92.3% to 97.3%, Multiple 96.2% to 100%, White 95.7% to 100% Semester 2: Asian maintain 100%, Black 88.8% to 93.8%, Hispanic 89.1% to 94.1%, Multiple 92.3% to 97.3%, White 96.3% to 100% Math Goal: To increase the percentage of students earning a C or higher in Algebra 2 by 5% across all student demographic groups with a particular emphasis on Black and Hispanic students. Semester 1: Asian 91.8% to 96.8%, Black 81.9% to 86.9%, Hispanic 81.3% to 86.3%, Multiple maintain 100%, White 94.1% to 99.1% Semester 2: Asian 91.7% to 96.7%, Black 91% to 96%, Hispanic 91.5% to 96.5%, Multiple maintain 100%, White 97.5% to 100% Cultural Proficiency Goal: To increase student eligibility by 5% across all student demographics with a particular emphasis on Black and Hispanic students.
