Today’s school announcements and reminders are as follow:

The school store will be closed today, Tuesday, October 20, 2015. The school store is usually
open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00-3:15 pm after school.

SPORTS UPDATE: Congratulations to the boys softball as they beat Key MS on Thursday 10-1.
The Stallions were led offensively by Ben Ruth, Teddy Rudd and Christian Molina and on the
mound by Matt Lilly. Defensively it was a total team effort, limiting Key to just 1 run over 7
innings. Come out on Wednesday and see Sligo battle Lee!

Wednesday morning during Best, WSLI via channel 19 will present 2015 Student Government
Association (SGA) Candidates. At this time you will have the opportunity to meet each
candidate and hear their speeches in preparation for voting on Thursday morning. All
candidates must be in the TV Studio on Wednesday morning between the hour of 7:45 and
not later than 8:05 for production briefing. Morning between the hour of 7:45 and not later

This coming Thursday, October 22nd at 6:30 pm in the media center, Sligo Middle School will
host the first Visual Arts’ Night of this school year. We will be showing the academy award
winning classic, "The Good Earth." This movie is based on the 1931 award winning novel by
Nobel Prize winner Pearl Buck. It is a very interesting story of a farmer, and his wives, trying
to survive in turn of the century China. All students attending will receive a free slice of pizza.

Sligo’s Rec Xtra Minecraft will start on Wednesday, Oct 28 – May 11 with Ms. Heller in the
media center. Rec Xtra cooking club with Chef Sandy are on Wednesdays is in the staff lounge.
All seats are filled. Rec Xtra Art club are on Wednesdays with Ms. Muhn in room #104. Rec
Xtra Martial Arts club are on Thursdays with Mr. Nguyen in the cafeteria. Rec Xtra Bughouse
Chess will hold an information meeting on Tuesday, October 20th. Upcoming clubs that are
coming to Sligo are: Rec Xtra Champion Boxing Fitness on Nov. 3 – Dec. 3, Sligo’s Dance Club
on Nov. 3 – May 12, and Sligo’s LEGO Robotics Club on Nov. 11 – May 18. To participate in any
of the Rec Xtra clubs, a registration form must be turn into the Main Office. For more Rec
Xtra clubs information, please see Ms. Hernandez or to Mr. Lear on the main office.

Try your hand at being on the backstage crew. We are looking for intelligent, energetic,
creative students to help run our talent show from the wings. Interested students should
contact Mr. Colosimo about their interest by Thursday October 22. There will be no students
considered after the 22nd. Stallions, don’t forget you must see Mr. Colosimo by this
Thursday.

Career Day, Career Day: Sligo is getting ready for Career Day 2015 on Friday, November 13.

