(Sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese)
1. We will be offering tutoring on Tuesday and Thursday in room A207 from 2:15 until 3:00 pm. Every
member must sign up to tutor twice a semester. If you find that you have an important conflict for the afternoon
of your tutoring, it is your responsibility to find a replacement tutor for that day. If you cannot find another
tutor, please advise one of the officers or the sponsor. You must make up the missed day!
2. Everyone must actively participate in any and/or all service projects.
3. Every member is expected to attend all mandatory meetings. You are permitted to miss ONE meeting per
semester with proper advance approval from the sponsor.
4. To maintain your membership in the Spanish Honor Society, you must
a. continue enrollment in a Spanish class
b. maintain a grade of A in Spanish 4 and 5 or any SSS class
c. maintain a grade of B in Spanish AP Language / Literature
d. maintain a grade point average of B+ (GPA 3.3) in all other classes.
5. There is an annual membership fee of $5.00 for all members. (New inductees have already paid this fee.)
6. The reasons for which you could lose membership in the Spanish Honor Society are the following:

lower than a B for one semester, the student must obtain an A the next semester in order to reinstate the
membership. Only one reinstatement is permitted for each member.
 The administrators or teachers receive proof of cheating on tests or plagiarism on essays, reports or any
written assignment.
 The student has received a suspension.
 The student does not complete his/her service hours and/or service project. The student has to complete
the service hours/project within the next semester in order to reinstate the membership. (Only one
reinstatement is allowed for each member.)
7. Once a student's name has been removed from the Spanish Honor Society roster due to the violation of honor
code, it cannot be reinstated.
