Meeting Minutes – February 22,2011
Meeting called to order 7:40 PM
Approval of December 7th meeting minutes. Approved.
TREASURER’S REPORT:
Currently have 37.5k in the bank
PRINCIPAL’S REPORT:
MSA’s are around the corner. There will a homework policy school wide next school year
MEMBERSHIP REPORT:
Currently there are 201 members
ADVOCACY REPORT:
The recommendation to the County Council is due 3/15/11. Operating budget funds staff
and educational materials. This comes from the state and the state currently has a deficit.
Feasibility studies for JW and additional for new ES #5 is just beginning.
PROGRAMS AND EVENTS:
Community Service, Manna Mania prepared 430 lbs of food, community service night made
over 400 lunch bags. Book marks and door hangers were made for the children’s Inn.
Cultural arts, Adventure theatre is on 4/15 – Just a Dream and Earth Day presentation for
3-5 graders.
Variety Show, currently there are 31 acts. Show is Thursday 3//3 @ 6:30 PM, JW AP room.
Barnes and Noble Book Fair, you can show online 3/27-4/1 with ID #son.
Spring Carnival and Auction is 5/1/11, 1-5PM Need volunteers and auction items.
Restaurant night, Wed 3/2, 4-9PM Potomac Pizza in Travilah
3/8 is the Mardi Gras luncheon, food donations welcome – salad or appetizer.
Year book orders and pictures – year book checks are due 3/1pictures are due 3/15
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
Directory apps are available to PTA members for free.
NEW BUSINESS:
PTA thinking of donating $50 for RM post prom donation, $50 covers 1 person to attend
and after prom activity, bowing at Shady Grove 300. PTA voted $100
SPEAKER:
Mrs. Capoccia spoke about bullying and took questions. She also explained about the
official bullying form that can be filled out and turned into the office if necessary.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Variety show rehearsals 2/23, 2/24, 2/28 @ RPES and 3/1 @ JW. Show is 3/3.
