1. Insert the description of the program as it will appear in the catalog:
A Certificate of Achievement may be earned by completing all the courses required for this major with a
grade of “C” or better. An Associate in Science degree may be earned by completing a minimum of 60
units of degree credit coursework, including the major requirements and breadth requirements, with a
minimum grade point average of 2.0. The student must complete all courses required for the major with
a grade of “C” or better.
2. Provide a brief rationale for the program:
The Automotive Department is creating stackable certificates to providing multiple entry and exit points to
allow flexibility to all students. The final certificate will be the NATEF (National Automotive Technician’s
Education Foundation) certified program. NATEF is an accreditation organization that provides program
standards for automotive educational institutions and is widely recognized within the automotive industry.
These curriculum changes are the first step in the NATEF certification process. It is updating our program to
meet the time can course requirements for NATEF certification.
