The Consensus Art Exhibit opens outside the Main Office on Monday, May 2. Consensus is an exhibit composed of group[s of 5 or 6 artists that we call "chains." which encompasses many different artistic media. The concept was developed by singer/songwriter Sally Taylor as a means to show how everyone interprets things quite differently. As a person with dyslexia, she had to learn how to “read” visual texts in her own manner. The first artist in the chain receives a work of art, in this case a photograph, from which he or she will interpret in his or hers favorite medium. This work is then passed to the second artist in the chain who interprets only the work that he or she received. Now that all the chains are complete, this year's Consensus exhibit is composed of 3 chains, 20 artists and a variety of media ranging from fashion design and sculpture to aerial silk performances and body painting. Special thanks to Ben Schnapp for his help with the technical component of the exhibition and to Lily Pham, matt cutter extraordinaire!
