COURSE/CATALOG DESCRIPTION
This course is an adjunct to NURS 240. It provides instruction related to specific pediatric nursing skills, as
well as an opportunity for individual and small group practice of those skills in the nursing skills laboratory.
Not repeatable.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
At the completion of the course the student will be able to:
1. Discuss the steps necessary for safe performance of selected pediatric nursing procedures:
a) Medication administration
b) Reconstitution of medications
c) I.V. push meds
d) CVC Dressing change
e) Intradermal injections
f) Gastrostomy tube feedings
g) urine collection.
2. Demonstrate proficiency in the pediatric nursing skills in the laboratory setting.
