Catatan :
Hati-hati dengan pernah …. Jangan diterjemahkan dengan ‘have ever’, seperti pada
kalimat :
‘Saya pernah ke London’, jangan mengatakan ‘I have ever been to London’
Ever dapat digunakan dalam kalimat tanya seperti :
‘Have you ever been to London ?’
‘Have you ever read Hamlet ?’
Dalam kalimat berita ever dipergunakan sebagai berikut :
1. dibelakang bentuk ‘superlative’
That is the best movie I have ever seen.
That’s the best game we have ever played.
That’s the most beautiful song I have ever heard.
2. dalam ‘if-clause’ :
If I ever see him, I will tell him.
( Kalau-kalau saya bertemu dengannya, akan saya ceritakan kepadanya ),
3. dalam arti terus-menerus :
Once a dog bit me, and ever since then, I’ve been afraid of dogs.
( Saya pernah digigit anjing, dan sejak itu, saya selalu takut anjing ).
Perhatikan jika anda menggunakan ever dalam kalimat tanya :
1. Have you ever played chess ?
( sudah pernah )
