NEWS On ordering Extension’s Parenting Newsletters for distribution in your county. September 2013 Biggest changes: 1. We now have two printers available, with different levels of flexibility and cost. 2. Your county office no longer needs to purchase a license to reproduce the newsletters. 2 Printers Badger State Industries (the Portage prison print shop) continues to serve us. Their prices for both printing and shipping have risen in recent years, but they are still competitive for bulk orders (50+) of complete sets (i.e. sets of 12 issues of Parenting the First Year). They continue to be able to customize the back page with your county information. My latest info on their prices could be wrong, so make the call to check for yourself: Parenting the First Year (set of 12, 8-page issues) 3.90 / set plus shipping nd rd Parenting the 2 & 3 Years (set of 12, 8-page issues) 3.90 / set plus shipping Preparing to Parent (set of 4, 16-page issues) call for quote Spanish language editions: same price as for the English editions. For more information on working with BSI, see item 8a2 in the instructions posted on our distribution web site: http://fyi.uwex.edu/using-parenting-newsletters/distribution-essentials/ Our contacts for questions on ordering the newsletters from BSI are Kara Jackson (608.240.5211 or kara.jackson@wi.gov) and Leah Lipska (608.240.5258 or leah.lipska@wi.gov). OneTouchPoint, formerly Coakley Printers (in Waukesha County), is the new printing option. They are willing to print odd numbers of individual issues of the newsletters. So if you run short of some issues but not others, this is easily your best printing option. Below I show you the price quote they gave Extension Publications, but they are new to this and have given differing quotes to others, so you’d better call them yourself. Parenting the First Year $0.32 per issue (= $3.80/ set of 12) plus shipping. Parenting the 2nd & 3rd Years $0.32 per issue (= $3.80/ set of 12) plus shipping. Preparing to Parent $0.52 per issue (= $2.08/set of 4) plus shipping. Spanish editions also available. For more information and a quote, contact john.sternad@1touchpoint.com Local Printing Option Of course, you continue to have the option to arrange local printing. This has worked well in many cases, especially where a hospital has their own print shop. You will need to purchase the digital copy of the newsletters from Extension Publications. Contact Jim Smith at 608-262-2655 or jim.smith@uwex.edu. When you purchase your own copy, you are allowed to use the entire back page with localized content (your county Extension logo and numbers, the names and logos of your partner organizations, local hotline numbers, your return address for mailing, etc. From the UWEX Learning Store You also continue to be able to order the newsletters as an Extension Bulletin (it looks the same) from our Extension Learning Store ( http://learningstore.uwex.edu ). This is an excellent option if you need just one or a few sets, for example to mail to your cousin each month after her baby is born (that’s what I do!) And you also have the option of signing someone up for free, monthly internet delivery of the newsletters. For that, go to our public home page: http://parenting.uwex.edu/ No License Fee Your county Extension office no longer has to purchase the $75 in-state license to print you own localized sets of the newsletters. Hooray for Extension Publications for making this change! Note that other organizations in the state still need to pay the license fee, unless they partner with you, a tangible benefit of working with you. For all your questions… …about distributing our Extension parenting newsletters, remember that we have a website full of resources, as well as tips on how other Family Living Educators have managed this project.
