ESW Open Seminar Series CHEER Monday 27th October, 5pm Room 104, Fulton Speaker Helen Gunter, Professor of Education Policy, University of Manchester, presents: Developing Intellectual Histories in Educational Research ____________________________________ Professor Gunter has been working on an intellectual history of school leadership for at least two decades, reporting on this in her doctoral thesis and various publications since. During 2014, she will continue to develop this work for a research monograph for Bloomsbury to be published in 2015. In this seminar, Professor Gunter will share the intellectual journey she has taken developing an approach to intellectual histories, and how she has shaped and developed her approach for her latest text. She will discuss different approaches to intellectual histories, and how she has developed her own approach to recognise the interplay between agency and structure within knowledge production, and the processes through which knowledge production takes place. __________________________________ Professor Gunter is an Academician of Social Sciences whose work focuses on education policy and knowledge production in school leadership. Her most recent publications include Leadership and the Reform of Education (2012: Policy Press) and Educational Leadership and Hannah Arendt (2014: Routledge). She co-edits the Journal of Educational Administration and History.
