Sherill Cronin, Peri Jacobson, Dave Pariser, Carole Pfeffer, John Stemmer, Julie Toner, Ruth Wagoner, Ms. Ann Olsen, Mr. Carl Williams Guests: Dr. Kathy Cooter Recording: Janice Martin ______________________________________________________________________________ Dr. Dave Pariser presided over the meeting. The following comments were made during discussion of indicated topics: Minutes: Dr. Pariser moved that the minutes from the September meeting be accepted and it was seconded. The motion passed. Graduate student survey results – Dr. Helen Grace Ryan Dr. Ryan will report back with results later SB 1 – Dr. K. Cooter Anyone that teaches must take this course Impacts college readiness and will be felt in School of Education Real impetus that everyone understands what teachers are expected to teach students List of all who completes this course will be put on a public website By November 1, we will have to have a website to show all training that we have had This will have to be done every semester for new faculty High school faculty is excited to see that what they teach will be matched in college Graduate faculty workload issues – Dr. Pariser/Dr. Jacobson The problem is that changes have been made with undergrad getting more credit than graduate Will discuss this further at November GEA meeting Other issues Field trip forms o Forms required when visiting external sites o Need to develop all-encompassing new emergency form o Could be added to faculty page of Bellarmine website o Can have Dr. Wiegand take this matter back to Deans Council to address Dr. Stemmer said that Endnote classes start in November and would like to have 25 people for training Food service in BOB o After a meeting regarding space, trying to prioritize work to be done o Results will be discussed at November meeting Dr. Toner said that she wanted to inform the group that they are exploring a Masters in Taxation program Print issues for students o Dr. Wagoner said that students are exceeding their print budget early in semester and could use a larger print budget o Dr. Stemmer said that in the library students can print articles (not word documents) for no charge o Dr. Toner mentioned if we are getting environmentally friendly, do we need to print that much o Dr. Stemmer said that there are some printers that will print duplex (front & back). He will check where these printers are and report back to the committee Dr. Wagoner brought up a topic for the November meeting: Do part-time faculty who teach graduate class get paid for 4 credit hours for what is a 3 credit hour class for the student? The meeting adjourned at 4:10 p.m.
