COCOMO II/Appendix D/Boehm et al. -1- APPENDIX D COCOMO II AND USC-CSE AFFILIATE PROGRAMS D.1 Introduction The COCOMO II Affiliates' program is a special option within the overall USC-CSE Affiliates' program. COCOMO II Affiliates obtain early access to COCOMO II calibration updates; to emerging extensions such as COCOTS, CORADMO, and COPROMO; and to associated tools such as code counters for newer programming languages. They participate in Affiliates' workshops to collaboratively prioritize and refine the definition of COCOMO II model updates and emerging extensions, and to compare experiences on the maturity and utility of emerging estimation-related technology. They obtain preferential access to USC-CSE researchers for COCOMO II-related questions. © 1999-2000 USC Center for Software Engineering. A copy of the application to become an Affiliate is available on the CD that accompanies this book. Alternatively, you may call our administrator at (213) 740-5703 or email us at CSE@sunset.usc.edu. D.2 Primary Benefits As an Affiliate, members of your organization are invited to attend as our guests conferences and workshops on topics in software project management and software cost estimation. Such technical meetings and focused workshops, which often include tutorials, provide the Affiliates organizations' leading-edge personnel with valuable lessons, insights and the latest versions of COCOMO II tools and extensions. In the event that someone from an Affiliates' organization could not participate in these conferences or workshops but desires a copy of the proceedings, the Center is more than happy to provide it. Most of the material is initially posted on the Affiliates-only web site. © 1999-2000 USC Center for Software Engineering. This code counters can be used freely within an Affiliates organization. Since they are provided in source code form they can, be tailored as needed. The most valuable benefit, however, may be the technical support in cost modeling and estimating that is available only to Affiliates. The support has been likened to that provided by commercial estimating packages, but is provided by our researchers directly. D.3. Additional Benefits Organizations that wish to take advantage of the other research areas that CSE is involved in can become full Affiliates which provides access to all technical conferences, not just those limited to project management and cost estimation. They enjoy technical support on tools and in areas such as MBASE, software architecture, and WinWin. They have the opportunity to assess technology maturity and to benchmark their relative capabilities across the full spectrum of emerging software engineering technologies. They obtain additional benefits such as a free annual one-day visit by a CSE researcher, and opportunities to collaborate on joint research projects. © 1999-2000 USC Center for Software Engineering. For small organizations, those with under $100M/year sales or budget, the fee is $5000. For COCOMO II Affiliation, the fee is $15,000. per year. For full affiliation, the fee is $25,000. per year. For non-US organizations, only full affiliation at $40,000.00 per year is available. © 1999-2000 USC Center for Software Engineering. All Rights Reserved 612942854
