Install Windows Server 2003
1. Begin the Windows Server 2003 installation program.
2. Choose to format the drive as NTFS.
3. Choose the appropriate region.
4. Enter a Name and Organization.
5. Enter your license key.
6. Choose the appropriate licensing scheme (“Per Device or Per User” works fine).
7. Set the Computer Name to “MSFTBI”.
8. Set the administrator password to “password”.
9. Set the date, time, and time zone.
10. Choose “Typical settings” for Network Settings.
11. Do not join a domain. Leave the computer set to join the workgroup named
WORKGROUP.
12. Installation will complete. After the machine has rebooted, log in as the
administrator.
13. Click on the Start button, then Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs.
14. Click on the Add/Remove Windows Components icon.
15. Put a check mark next to Application Server.
16. Click the Details button.
17. In the Application Server, put a checkmark next to ASP.NET.
18. Click OK.
19. Click Next.
20. If it is not already installed, install Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1.
21. Run Windows Update and install any critical files.
Install SQL Server 2005 Developer
1. Begin the SQL Server 2005 Developer installation program.
2. Under Install, click on “Server components, tools, Books Online, and samples”.
3. Install the necessary prerequisites when prompted (most likely .NET Framework
2.0, Microsoft SQL Native Client, and Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Setup Support
Files).
4. On the Components to Install screen, choose all items.

5. Click the Advanced button.
6. Expand the “Documentation, Samples, and Sample Databases” node and select all
options.
7. On the Instance Name screen, make sure Default instance is selected.

8. On the Service Account screen, select “Use the built-in System account” and
choose Local system. Leave other options the same.
9. On the Authentication Mode screen, select Mixed Mode. For the sa password,
enter “BlankPassword”.
10. On the Collation Settings screen, just click Next.
11. On the Report Server Installation Options screen make sure that “Install the
default configuration” option is selected.
12. On the Error and Usage Report Settings screen, make sure the boxes are
unchecked.
13. Finish installing the product.
14. Install the samples by clicking on the Start button and then choosing All
Programs, Microsoft SQL Server 2005, Documentation and Tutorials, Samples,
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Samples.
15. In the Samples installation wizard, accept the default location and install.
16. Open the SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS) by
clicking on the Start button, the Microsoft SQL Server 2005, SQL Server
Business Intelligence Development Studio.
17. In BIDS, click File, Open, Project/Solution.
18. Navigate to C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Samples\Analysis
Services\Tutorials\Lesson7 and open “Analysis Services Tutorial.sln”.
19. Click on the Build menu and choose Deploy Analysis Services Tutorial.
Install Windows SharePoint Services with Service Pack 2
1. Begin the Windows SharePoint Services installation program.
2. Choose to perform a typical installation and complete the installation.
3. Open a command prompt.
4. Change your current directory to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft
Shared\web server extensions\60\BIN.
5. Run the following command:
STSADM.EXE -o addpath -url http://localhost/ReportServer -type exclusion
6. Run the following command:
STSADM.EXE -o addpath -url http://localhost/Reports -type exclusion
Install MSXML 4.0 SP2

Run the MSXML.MSI file.
Accept the license agreement.
Fill in the User Name and Organization.
On the “Choose Setup Type” screen, click Install Now.

Enter your user name, initials, and organization.
Accept the license agreement.
On the “Type of Installation” screen, choose “Custom Install” and click Next.
On the “Custom Setup” page, unselect all programs except Excel and then check
“Choose advanced customization of applications” and click Next.
7. On the Advanced Customization screen, expand “Office Tools” and set
“Microsoft Query” to “Run from My Computer” and click Next.
8. Click Install.
9. When done, click Finish.
10. Open Internet Explorer and go to http://office.microsoft.com and click on Check
for Updates. Download and install any critical updates.
Install ADOMD.NET 8.0
1. Double-click on ADOMD.NET.msi (can be downloaded from Microsoft
Download Center).
2. Accept the license agreement.
3. Install the product.
4. After installation, install any hotfixes (currently this is ADOMD.Net-KB893091v8.00.0991-x86.EXE).

On the main screen, click on “Install Business Scorecard Builder”.
Accept the license agreement.
On the “Choose Setup Type” screen, select Recommended and click Next.
After the Builder is installed, click Finish to return to the main screen.
Click on “Install Business Scorecard Server”.
Accept the license agreement.
On the “Choose Setup Type” screen, select Custom and click Next.
Change “Reporting Services Export” to “Will be installed on local hard drive”
and click Next.
9. On the “Web Parts” screen, click Next.
10. On the “Web Service” screen, make sure the Application pool is set to
StsAppPool1. Leave the other options as they are set and click Next.
11. On the “Database Information” screen, set the Database server to MSFTBI. Leave
the other options as they are and click Next.
12. Click the Install button.
13. When done, click the Finish button and then exit the installation screen.

Install ProClarity Desktop Professional

Run setup.exe.
Click on Install Desktop Professional.
Accept the license agreement.
On the “Customer Information” screen, choose “Anyone who uses this computer
(all users)” and click Next.
Accept all the defaults on the “Setup” screen and click Next.
Click the Install button.
When done, click Finish.
Click Exit from the installation screen.
9. Copy the file “Analyst Views.bbk” into the My Documents folder (C:\Documents
and Settings\Administrator\My Documents).
10. Double-click on the file to launch ProClarity.
11. On the “ProClarity Getting Started Tutorial” dialog box, click “No. Don’t Show
Again”.
12. Verify that the first view has data. Close ProClarity.
Install the Microsoft Office Business Scorecard Manager 2005
Samples
1. Open the SQL Server Management Studio by clicking on the Start button, then
All Programs, Microsoft SQL Server 2005, SQL Server Management Studio.
2. In the Connect to Server dialog box, choose a Server type of “Analysis Services”
and click Connect.

Expand Analysis Services Tutorial.
Right-click on Roles and choose New Role.
In the Create Role dialog, set the Role name to Scorecard.
Click on Membership in the “Select a page” pane.
Click the Add button.
In the Select Users or Groups dialog, type “everyone” in the “Enter the object
names to select” field and click OK.
10. In the “Select a page” pane, select Cubes.
11. Set the Access to “Read” and the Local Cube/Drillthrough Access to
“Drillthrough and Local Cube”.
12. Click OK.
13. Copy the file “Sample.bsw” into the My Documents folder (C:\Documents and
Settings\Administrator\My Documents).
14. Double-click on the file to launch the Microsoft Office Business Scorecard
Builder 2005.
15. Click OK to accept the default address for the Business Scorecard Manager
server.
16. Click the Publish All button on the toolbar.
17. Open Internet Explorer and go to http://localhost.
18. In Windows SharePoint Services, click on Modify Shared Page in the upper righthand corner, choose Add Web Parts, and then Browse.
19. In the new pane that appears, choose Virtual Server Gallery.
20. Click on Office Scorecard View and click the Add button.
21. A new Office Scorecard View item will be added to the page in the left pane.
22. Click the dropdown arrow on the Office Scorecard View Web Part.

23. Choose Modify Shared Web Part.
24. In the pane that appears, choose “Product Sales” in the “Select a scorecard”
dropdown.
25. Click the plus sign next to Appearance.
26. Change the Title to “Product Analysis”.
27. Click the OK button.
28. In Windows SharePoint Services, click on Modify Shared Page in the upper righthand corner, choose Add Web Parts, and then Browse.
29. In the new pane that appears, choose Virtual Server Gallery.
30. Click on Office Scorecard View and click the Add button.
31. A new Office Scorecard View item will be added to the page in the left pane.
32. Click the dropdown arrow on the Office Scorecard View Web Part.

dropdown.
35. Click the plus sign next to Appearance.

39. In the new pane that appears, choose Virtual Server Gallery.
40. Click on Office Scorecard View and click the Add button.
41. A new Office Scorecard View item will be added to the page in the left pane.
42. Click the dropdown arrow on the Office Scorecard View Web Part.
43. Choose Modify Shared Web Part.
44. In the pane that appears, choose “Company Health – Single Quarter” in the
“Select a scorecard” dropdown.
45. Click the plus sign next to Appearance.
46. Change the Title to “Scorecard”.
47. Click the OK button.
48. Close Internet Explorer and close the Microsoft Office Business Scorecard
Builder 2005.

Install the SQL Server Reporting Services 2005 Samples
1. Double-click on “Report Project1.zip”.
2. Copy the contents of this file into C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My
Documents\Visual Studio 2005\Projects.
3. Double-click on the “Report Project1.sln” file you have just copied to the Projects
folder to open the project in Microsoft Visual Studio 2005.
4. In Visual Studio 2005, click on the Build menu and choose “Deploy Basic
Reports”.
5. Open Internet Explorer and go to http://localhost/reports.
6. Click on “Basic Reports”.
7. In the report list, click on the “Interactive Drilldown” report to verify the reports
are working.
8. Close Internet Explorer and close Visual Studio 2005.
Install the Excel 2003 Sample
1. Copy the file “Analysis Views.xls” into the My Documents folder (C:\Documents
and Settings\Administrator\My Documents).
2. Double-click on Analysis Views.xls to open the file in Excel.
3. On the Basic Analysis tab, double-click on Canada to make sure the file is
working.
4. Close Excel.
Setup is now complete
