PG Cert CYP Course Information
Students will be required to:

OSCE’s: There are 3 OSCE’s during the course. You will be expected to attend
university for approximately 1 hour on the following dates to undertake these
exams. Practice days will also be offered approx. One week before these exams but
attendance is not compulsory at these practice days.

Attend supervision of 30
hours over the course; it is a
mandatory part of the
training.
Placements can be arranged
through Sussex Partnership
NHS Foundation Trust.
This is likely to require a time commitment of at least an hour per week from January
2017-August 2017 (Initially face to face and then remotely over a web based
programme)

The 90 hours would need to be accumulated between January and August so would
equate to at least one clinical day per week between the end of January 2017 and
the end of August 2017.



Students will be expected to start seeing clients from January 2017

Submit a number of
assignments over the course
of the programme including
written and recorded work.
Module 1: Assessment block 1 (after Christmas)
Theoretical Essay on developmental models, mental health difficulties and
healthcare legislation (2000 words)
Module 2: Assessment block 1 (after Christmas)
OSCE-30 mins
Reflective account (1000 words)
Module 3: Assessment block 2 (after Easter)
OSCE 30 mins: interventions (problem solving or star charts or BA)
Brief clinical report: intervention with an individual (1,500 words)
Portfolio which contains:
Evidence of 45 hours face to face individual work
Evidence of completed treatment with a minimum of 2 clients:
Case flow charts
Client summaries
Samples of assessment and end of
treatment reports
Competence based sign off in supervisor reports (confirmation
that the student has completed 45 hours face to face work)
Module 4: Assessment block 3 (end August)
OSCE 30 mins: interventions (GE or thought records or emotion
regulation)
Brief clinical report: intervention with an individual (1,500 words)
Portfolio which contains:
Evidence of 45 hours face to face individual/group work
Evidence of completed treatment with a minimum of 2 clients:
Case flow charts
Client summaries
Samples of assessment and end of
treatment reports
Competence based sign off in supervisor reports (confirmation
that the student has completed 45 hours face to face work and
is competent to practice)
