Graduate Assistantships Department of Computer Science & Engineering University of Nevada, Reno, USA The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at the University of Nevada, Reno (http://www.unr.edu/cse) invites applications for graduate assistantships. Successful applicants will receive financial support through teaching assistantships (TAs) or research assistantships (RAs). Teaching assistants work under the supervision of department faculty and are expected to teach recitation sections or laboratories, help with grading and develop course materials and exams. Research assistants conduct innovative research in cooperation with and under the supervision of department faculty. They are expected to conduct experiments, implement prototype systems, develop new theories, and attend conferences or publish work in scholarly journals. Typical support for graduate assistantships covers tuition and fees, health insurance, and offers financial compensation of $1,550 / month. If you are selected for an assistantship, you will receive additional details about your funding package at that time. Both M.S. and Ph.D. students are eligible for the graduate assistantships. However, strong preference will be given to those applying or pursuing a Ph.D. degree. Applicants to the graduate program must hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or a related field. The department will consider applications from students without this background if they show exceptional promise. More details on program requirements and admissions can be found at on the department website: Master’s degree program Ph.D. program About the department Our department is growing rapidly. We currently have more than 500 undergraduates enrolled in our B.S. program, about 40 M.S. students in our graduate program, and more than 30 Ph.D. students. We expect to increase the size of our Ph.D. program to 50 students over the next few years. Many of our full-time Ph.D. students are currently fully supported, and the department expects to have sufficient funding to support additional students in the upcoming years. Learn more about us.
