GTP Access Codes
• You may now obtain your access code and
instruction sheet in person or by emailing the
Office of International Students and Scholars
at oiss@unr.edu.
– Students, email your name and NSHE ID.
– Scholars, email your name and date of birth.

enter your personal
information.
You will need your passport.

Obtaining an ITIN
• Step 1: Prepare your ITIN
Application:
– Complete Form W-7:

Check boxes f and h in the first section as
your reason for applying
In Box “h” write either “exception 2(b):
scholarship, fellowship or grant exempt from
tax by tax treaty;” or
“Exception 2(c): scholarship, fellowship or
grant NOT exempt from tax by tax treaty.”
Refer to IRS Publication 901 to determine if
your scholarship, fellowship or grant is
covered by a tax treaty
Canadian citizens should note their visa
status in 6c and add “Canadian – no visa”
Obtaining an ITIN
● Step 2: Compile the Following
Documents:
● Your original passport
● Your original visa stamp – even if it is
expired
● Your current original I-20 or DS-2019
● Your I-94
● Your no-employment letter (request this
letter from the OISS office)

• Step 3: Schedule an appointment
for an ITIN application at the OISS
Office; Bring your completed W-7
Form and all of the documents you
compiled with you.
IRS Error on some 2014
Returns
● For the 2014 tax year IRS has had
some errors with the 1042S
reporting (taxable scholarship
income)
● Glacier believes this is an IRS error
● If you received a letter regarding
your 1042S from 2014 contact us
ASAP!
● You can always contact
support@glaciertax.com for help

in the MIKC 114 (Mathewson IGT Knowledge
Center, Computer Training Lab 114) :
– Friday, March 18th, from 1:15pm – 3:15pm
