Student Bursary Application Form
The North East Region of the Analytical Division (NERAD) is pleased to be able to offer postgraduate
research students and early career researchers* to present (poster or oral contribution) at national and
international conferences with a significant analytical theme. In the UK, for example, this would include
the annual RSC/AD Analytical Research Forum. [Note: * this includes members in public and privatesector organisations].
Eligibility criteria:

Membership of the Royal Society of Chemistry (in one of the following categories: Affiliate,
Associate, Member or Fellow)

Postgraduate research student or resident / working within the boundaries of the NE Region of
RSC/AD

Abstract accepted/submitted for the proposed conference

Evidence that other financial support is being provided

Maximum contributions from NERAD are: £150 for conferences in the UK; £200 within mainland
Europe; £350 for the rest of the world.

Fully completed application form signed by supervisor or line manager.

Confirmation that applicant has attended the conference. Unless evidence is provided the
bursary will not be paid [please note that this scheme is therefore a reimbursement bursary
post-attendance and confirmed contribution].

Applicants can only apply once within a 12 month period

Applications to be received by the Honorary Secretary (NERAD) by 5 November (in any year) for
conferences taking place between 1st January and 31 July; by 5 May for conferences (in any
year) taking place between 1st August and 31st December.
[NOTE: As funds for bursaries are limited the NERAD Committee reserve the right to award or not based
on the above criteria].
