This course is embedded in Calculus of Several Variables (G5210) for Mathematics and in
Scientific Computing for (F3212) for Physics.

There is a penalty for submitting up to 24 hour late, namely a deduction of 5 marks from your attained
score. There is a penalty for submitting up to 7 days late, namely a deduction of 10 marks.
You will get zero for being more than 7 days late.
Assessments 1 and 2 will be completed on templated documents that will be available via Study Direct.
Mathematics students will need to submit directly to the Departmental Office.
Physics students will submit via Study Direct.
Course outline:
The aim of the course is to equip students with the most important skills needed for career planning. The
course is a collection of talks by Career Advising experts, as well as a number of presentations by
Mathematics and Physics graduates, and companies who mainly recruit mathematics and physics
graduates.
Learning outcomes:
At the end of the course a successful student should have:
 accumulated sufficient knowledge of different career paths for mathematics and physics
graduates so they can draw up their own plan to achieve employment success after graduation.
