Browser Functions and Set-up
One Session
Only one session (browser window) of OnCore should be open at one time. Multiple sessions of
OnCore result in misbehavior and are resolved by closing the other session.
Popup Blockers
OnCore uses many browse windows to display selection choices. Popup blockers prevent these
browse windows from displaying, therefore, popup windows must be allowed in order for the
OnCore URL to display the browse windows.
Avoid Browser Back Button
Avoid using the browser back button while working in OnCore. Instead use the back buttons,
tabs, or menulinks within OnCore to navigate. Using the browser toolbar is going outside the
OnCore software and may lead to unexpected results such as unsaved data.
CTRL+F = Find
CTRL+F provides a quick search within a list. Click the list, hold down the Ctrl key and press
the letter F. Enter information in the Find screen and click the Find Next button.
F11
F11 displays the full screen for OnCore (hides taskbars). Press F11 a second time to return to the
original setting.
OnCore Navigation and Functionality
Logging On
Use the OnCore home page to log on.
You can use Internet Explorer, Firefox or Safari to access OnCore.
Enter your Yale University or YNHH User ID and password. After
logging in, OnCore will display only those menu links to which you
have access.

Logging Off
To properly exit OnCore, select the Log Off menu link at the top of the screen (see screen shot
below).
Menu Links
The menu consists of submenus that are always accessible through the menu links.
The Menu Links and submenu options that appear apply to the role of the user.
The My Profile, Log Off, Documentation and About links are always available.
Profile/Roles
(Ex. A)
(Ex. B)
OnCore uses profiles to distribute privileges. Each area within OnCore has privilege
requirements. OnCore defaults the role when first logging on, however you may change the User

Role without logging off by clicking on the arrow to the right of the User Role (Ex. A above) or
by clicking on My Profile and selecting the User Role from the drop-down (Ex. B above).
Vertical (side menu) and Horizontal Tabs
The side menu consists of vertical tabs. Tabs allow for easy navigation between logically
organized subsets of information.
Vertical tabs with an arrow contain additional horizontal tabs or pages. Horizontal tabs are used
to display different pages related to the original side menu vertical tab. The related tabs can first
be viewed as a menu extension of the vertical tab when an arrow appears on the vertical tab.
Help
On the top of every console page you will have the “?” Clicking on this will open a pop up
screen with more instructions on what should be entered in each field. This should be your first
go to if you have questions.
Header

The Header provides read only summary information for the protocol and is consistent across the
group of related screens that are associated with the bar.
Select Protocol
Enter the protocol number to access protocol information
within OnCore. The down arrow provides a list from
which you may select.
As data is entered into the Select Protocol field, the results
list is narrowed. Hitting [Enter] once the entire protocol
number is entered or clicking on the link for the required
protocol will display the selected protocol in the PC
Console.
Hyperlink
Hyperlinks are listed in blue throughout the OnCore application. After a hyperlink has been
viewed, the color changes to purple (unless the browser settings have been personalized).
Selecting a Hyperlink brings you to an additional screen containing information for that item.
Search Methods
Protocol Search and Subject Search can be used to create different listings based on a wide range
of selection criteria. Use a single field for a broad search or combine search fields to minimize
search results.

Freeze Pane Capabilities
OnCore offers the capability to freeze panes when viewing large lists
within OnCore. The freeze pane capability is automatically activated
when using Internet Explorer. Note: Firefox does not support this
functionality.
Print Portrait or Landscape
Use the file drop down from the browser and select print.
Click the Preferences button of the print screen and select Portrait or Landscape. Select the
Print or OK button.
Once back on the Print screen select Print.
