Summary Statement: State the major function(s) of the position and its role in the university. The Specialist, Digital Photographic Production, supports faculty and administrative staff in the design and production of digital imaging products supporting the University’s core missions of instruction, research, and outreach. Materials generated will be incorporated into web sites, print publications including Nevada Silver & Blue, and research and classroom teaching materials. This position reports to the Media Production and Design Manager, Teaching and Learning Technologies. 2. List the major responsibilities, including percentage of time devoted to each. Provide enough detail to enable a person outside the department to understand the job (percentage first with heading and then bulleted information). 50% - Digital imaging products Production Works with students, faculty, and staff to determine the appropriate utilization of digital photography to fulfill instructional or outreach goals Assists faculty and administrative clients with photographic needs for use in books, magazines, brochures, newsletters and other publications Develops and produces support materials for grant and funding proposals Produces component elements for interactive projects such as web-based materials Photographs events for documentation purposes Provides location and studio portraiture Supports faculty utilizing classroom presentation technology as it relates to digital imaging Provides training for faculty and students on camera use and digital imaging production Supplies images to the campus’ digital image archive; helps to coordinate other campus efforts in maintaining and enlarging this resource 40% - Digital Imaging Services for Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) Division Photographs defined events, locations, university activities, and people that illustrate to the larger community the essence of the institution Supports the imaging needs for the publication, Nevada Silver & Blue, including cover and interior art as assigned either by the Nevada Silver & Blue editorial staff or other members of the campus community responsible for magazine content (for example, School of Medicine, Communications). The Specialist has the authority and responsibility to make production decisions related to digital imaging products. Composition, appropriate lighting, and production methodologies, for example, are decisions that have great impact on the success and ultimate effectiveness of an imaging project. These decisions have a direct impact on the University’s image as well, while affecting the perception and credibility of Teaching and Learning Technologies. 4.
