1. Summary Statement: State the major function(s) of the position and its role in the
university. Attach an organizational chart with positions, ranges, and names for the division
which reflects the position in it as well as those supervised in the department. (This section is
used for advertisement of the position.)
The Specialist, Digital Innovations and Assessment, designs and carries out various initiatives to
engage students via innovative online platforms and to collect and report data on student participation
and learning outcomes. A priority for the position is to create and maintain web-based instructional
modules to deliver career development lessons through WebCampus. The Specialist is the point
person for all of the Career Studio’s web-based applications and technology platforms including the
job board, Career Services Manager, mock interview tool, career exploration tool, website and events
calendar in addition to WebCampus. The incumbent researches and reviews technology solutions in
order to make recommendations to the Team about future upgrades, changes, and purchases and
ultimately implement new technology. The Specialist reports to the Associate Director and works
closely with all members of the Career Studio Team
The Specialist also plays an important role in reporting student participation, satisfaction and
outcomes. The incumbent is responsible for developing and maintaining database systems to collect
and analyze data for multiple Career Studio programs. Tools for tracking data will include but not be
limited to Microsoft Excel, Formstack, Survey Monkey, and complex reporting filters within various
web-based applications. Managing all of this data involves regularly compiling, designing and
presenting clean, accurate data reports.

40% - Web Applications Administration
 Serve as subject matter expert in all of the Career Studio’s web application and technology
platforms, in order to act as the point person for all related projects and daily digital operations
 Take frequent advantage of customer support resources (help desk, tutorials, trainings) in
order to optimize the Career Studio’s use of web applications and platforms; develop regular
channels of communication with support teams
 Configure settings, oversee user accounts and security, and otherwise manage web
applications, including but not limited to the job board, Career Services Manager, mock
interview platform, career exploration platform, and Formstack
 Evaluate and implement the use of technology for process improvements and efficiencies;
troubleshoot and problem-solve technology issues as they arise
 Facilitate periodic conversations between the Career Studio and other campus departments
that share administrative access to the Career Studio’s web applications
 Collaborate with IT to align technology-based projects with University policies and
specifications
 Make recommendations regarding technology purchases, upgrades to existing technologies,
and new projects to help the Career Studio expand and improve its online offerings
 Train student employees to be effective users of various technologies and platforms
 Update, assess, and maintain the Career Studio website; write even descriptions to the online
social calendar; manage website event feeds
 Innovate and implement social media campaigns across various platforms, including
Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn and others; maintain a Career Studio blog in WordPress

 Design and administer online courses in WebCampus using online instructional and
pedagogical best practices
 Update, revise, and maintain online course content as needed
 Film and edit a series of fun, educational videos for web and social media publication
 Design visually-appealing layouts for educational content on web-based platforms, including
the website, WebCampus, WordPress blog, and others
 Propose and implement new creative projects to engage students in career development via
online platforms, which may include webinars, videoconferencing, social media campaigns,
podcasts, online tutorials and others
 Update, assess, and maintain the Career Studio’s landing page in WebCampus
30% Data Systems and Assessment
 Develop and implement comprehensive plans for major assessment initiatives: assessment of
first destination employment outcomes for graduates, and assessment of the University’s
internship programs
 Create and manage surveys using tools such as Formstack, Survey Monkey, and others in
order to assess satisfaction and outcomes for students, faculty, employers, and other partners
 Use reporting filters within various web applications to query and generate reports about
student usage and outcomes
 Oversee the card-swipe system for client intake at drop-in hours, generating data reports to
show how many and which students utilize drop-in hours, and how this impacts their longerterm outcomes
 Develop and maintain databases to compile, collate and query reporting data from multiple
sources regarding utilization rates, contacts, learning outcomes for students who complete
online courses/modules and internships or other experimental programs, and for other data
requests as needed
 Present clean, accurate data reports; provide recommendations regarding service
improvement strategies
3. Describe the level of freedom to take action and make decisions with or without
supervision and how the results of the work performed impact the department, division and/or
the university as a whole.
Level of Freedom:
The Specialist is responsible for simultaneous technology and assessment projects designed to
improve processes and provide data and recommendations regarding department services. The
incumbent independently prioritizes projects according to departmental goals and objectives, identifies
creative resources for projects, and collaborates with other departments or campuses to accomplish
multiple concurrent objectives. The Specialist shares progress updates and suggests new directions
for projects. In addition to implementing digital and data initiatives, the Specialist identifies
opportunities, researches and develops proposals, and makes recommendations for new products.
All projects are reviewed and discussed by the Career Studio team and supervisor prior to
implementation.
Impact:
The Career Studio has prioritized two major initiatives for the year: expanding digital career
development offerings and reporting student outcomes. The Digital Innovations and Assessment
Specialist will play a central, critical role in implementing the initiatives, while developing systems that
can grow and be sustained. Inadequate performance in this area will result in delays and inefficiencies
in program development and data reporting and negatively affect both the reputation and service
offerings of the department
