Summary Statement: State the major function(s) of the position and its role in the university. The Specialist, Digital Innovations and Assessment, designs and carries out various initiatives to engage students via innovative online platforms and to collect and report data on student participation and learning outcomes. A priority for the position is to create and maintain web-based instructional modules to deliver career development lessons through WebCampus. The Specialist is the point person for all of the Career Studio’s web-based applications and technology platforms including the job board, Career Services Manager, mock interview tool, career exploration tool, website and events calendar in addition to WebCampus. The incumbent researches and reviews technology solutions in order to make recommendations to the Team about future upgrades, changes, and purchases and ultimately implement new technology. The Specialist reports to the Associate Director and works closely with all members of the Career Studio Team The Specialist also plays an important role in reporting student participation, satisfaction and outcomes. The incumbent is responsible for developing and maintaining database systems to collect and analyze data for multiple Career Studio programs. Tools for tracking data will include but not be limited to Microsoft Excel, Formstack, Survey Monkey, and complex reporting filters within various web-based applications. Managing all of this data involves regularly compiling, designing and presenting clean, accurate data reports. 2. List the major responsibilities, including percentage of time devoted to each. Level of Freedom: The Specialist is responsible for simultaneous technology and assessment projects designed to improve processes and provide data and recommendations regarding department services. The incumbent independently prioritizes projects according to departmental goals and objectives, identifies creative resources for projects, and collaborates with other departments or campuses to accomplish multiple concurrent objectives. The Specialist shares progress updates and suggests new directions for projects. In addition to implementing digital and data initiatives, the Specialist identifies opportunities, researches and develops proposals, and makes recommendations for new products. All projects are reviewed and discussed by the Career Studio team and supervisor prior to implementation. Impact: The Career Studio has prioritized two major initiatives for the year: expanding digital career development offerings and reporting student outcomes. The Digital Innovations and Assessment Specialist will play a central, critical role in implementing the initiatives, while developing systems that can grow and be sustained.
