Summary Statement: State the major function(s) of the position and its role in the university. The Senior Associate Athletics Director/Senior Women’s Administrator (SAAD/SWA) serves as the sport administrator for selected sports, providing oversight and working with the coaches, staff and student-athletes on all areas of each program. The position supervises assigned staff in the day-today responsibilities for all of the University’s varsity sports and serves as the chair of the Nevada Athletics Hall of Fame Committee. The SAAD serves as the department’s SWA and represents the institution and Intercollegiate Athletics (ICA) department at national, conferences and campus meetings and initiatives. The incumbent provides direction and leadership for the advancement of the women’s sports programs within the context of the advancement of the overall athletics department. The position also oversees the department’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and life skills initiatives, planning and executing programming for student-athletes. The SAAD is in charge of all aspects of the institutional drug testing program and coordinates the department’s community service initiatives and outreach. The position helps to develop and executive the Intercollegiate Athletics Department’s strategic plan. The position acts as a liaison between the coaches, student-athletes, sport programs and ICA with fans/general public, conference personnel and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) officials. 2. Provide enough detail to enable a person outside the department to understand the job (percentage first with heading and then bulleted information). 50% - Sport Supervision and Operations Management Supervise all areas of assigned sport programs Collaborate with coaches and staff in day-to-day operations, including oversight of budget, personnel, academics and student-athlete issues Perform staff evaluations with coaches Provide daily oversight of the video department, including budget administration, staff and student intern supervision, employee evaluation, and other administrative duties Ensure compliance with NCAA, Conference, and university rules and regulations (subject to disciplinary or corrective action as set forth in the provisions of the NCAA enforcement procedures) 25% - Senior Women’s Administrator Represent institution and department at national, conference and campus meetings and initiatives; serve as a member of the Mountain West Joint Council and Senior Women Administrator committee Review department’s compliance with Title IX and work closely with campus Title IX coordinator Serve as a member of the department’s senior management team Conduct end-of-season surveys with all student-athletes and exit interviews with studentathletes who have exhausted their eligibility 20% - Life Skills, Community Service, SAAC, Hall of Fame, Drug Testing Plan and executive life skills programming for student-athletes Supervise and provide guidance to Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Coordinate department’s community service efforts and initiatives Position Description – Senior Associate Athletics Director/ Sr Women’s Administrator Page 3 Serve as chair of Athletics Hall of Fame committee Serve as program director for institutional drug testing program and execute all aspects of the program 5% - Events When practical under the circumstances, intercollegiate staff is encouraged to voluntarily attend all athletic events to promote audience participation and support for the University of Nevada’s team efforts 3. Level of Freedom: The SAAD/SWA advises, counsels and recommends a course of action related to sensitive situations within the department. The incumbent must be able to adequately assesses a situation and determine if the problem can be addressed at the Head Coach level or if it should be escalated to the Athletic Director. Within the sports operations, the incumbent is responsible for supervision and daily operational decisions (budget, issues with student athletes, facility/ equipment problems, travel, etc.). Significant issues are presented to the Athletic Director for oversight and consultation. Impact: Sound oversight of sports and handling of sensitive issues go hand-in-hand with presenting the department and University in the best light possible. Poor performance reflects negatively on the individual program, department and university and may result in a NCAA violations and a decrease of fan support. 4.
