The Project Manager, Interdisciplinary Outreach Programs, augments academic researchers/faculty by performing management of specific research projects, related to University interdisciplinary outreach programs conducted by University Interdisciplinary Outreach Liaison (IOL). The position coordinates and manages multiple activities and operations across the projects; performs research activities on grants; exercises grant management; provides support to the Principal Investigators (PI) on multiple projects; collaborates with graduate students and supervises undergraduate students involved in research and outreach programs. The Project Manager is responsible for communication and coordination between Interdisciplinary Outreach Liaison and University faculty and staff; NSHE institutions; Federal, State, and local agencies and organizations; Tribal governments and groups. This position reports directly to the University Interdisciplinary Outreach Liaison. 2. List the major responsibilities, including percentage of time devoted to each. If line of progression, define for each range as above. 45% - Project Management and Evaluation Coordinate and manage multiple project activities with projects’ Principal Investigators Co-design project evaluation instruments, collect and analyze evaluation data, prepare evaluation results for presentation and publication, evaluate projects outcome and develop action plans for project improvement Document project activities Collaborate with PI and researchers to draft and complete and submit fiscal reports on projects and developing progress reports in areas of responsibility; ensures accuracy of information Write and disseminate project reports, updates, news items, etc., for consortium members, stakeholders, and others through document database and upload to the IOL website (fact sheets, publications, announcements, progress reports, etc.) Develop long- and short-term spending of off load amounts and ensure funds are allocated and used appropriately within fiscal year Ensures human subject protocols are in compliance as necessary 1 Project Manager, Interdisciplinary Outreach Programs 30% - Communication and Outreach Collaborate with external organizations and community stakeholders to plan and execute research program activities Develop positive relationships and provide effective communication with all organizations/stakeholders in order to respond to project-related requests Represent IOL on University and community meetings and conferences Organize, lead and facilitate program-related activities and meetings, including the creation of agenda, preparation of material, meeting logistics, and collection of evaluation data Assist IOL in documenting and reporting interdisciplinary outreach programs through publications and document upload to the UNCE IOL website Initiate collaboration and coordination of project deliverables through active participation in meetings 25% - Grant Management and Writing Participate in the development of new and continuing funding proposals to funding agencies with final approval by direct supervisor Collect background information and data and prepare documents required for grant submission, grant reporting, and related documentation with final approval by supervisor Assist in preparation and calculation of budget for grant applications; both new and continuing funding with PI(s) Participate in preparing grant progress and fiscal reports on grants for funding agencies Inputs information for proposals for funding into federal government portal InfoNet website 3. The position takes direction from the IOL on actions impacting the University and in setting goals and tasks relating to the position. The position manages weekly activities to ensure expenses are accurately shown in CAIS reports. The position develops and presents long- and short-term plans for off load of salaries and ensures allocated dollars are spent wisely and within fiscal year. 4. Describe the types of problems, issues, action, communications this position typically takes to the supervisor for resolution and/or consultation. Provide examples. If a line of progression, describe the supervisory consultation at the highest level. The incumbent drafts new and revised budgets and final progress reports for final review and approval by the IOL. The position makes recommendations and presents concerns and issues beyond scope of responsibilities that require resolution by the IOL.
