Essential Function: Sedentary Work
Description: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force
frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary
work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.

The faculty of the Nevada Center for Excellence in Disabilities (NCED) in the College of
Education (COE) provide comprehensive and direct program support on specific grants,
contracts, and programs to assist individuals with developmental disabilities achieve
independence, productivity, integration and inclusion into the community. The positions are
responsible for project coordination, supervision, communication, and budget management for
projects that provide model services, disseminate information, provide pre-service and
professional development training, conduct program evaluation and research, and provide
technical assistance to state agencies, schools districts, businesses, the general public,
individuals, and families members
Range 1 – Associate Project Coordinator
Under the direction of the Director, NCED, the Associate Project Coordinator provides general
NCED program support and is responsible for the coordination and implementation of project
activities and for marketing and community outreach. The position is responsible for data entry,
generation of reports for assigned project(s), and program records maintenance and
destruction. The position typically reports to a Project Coordinator, Project Manager, or Senior
Manager.
Range 2 – Project Coordinator
Under the direction of the Director, NCED, the Project Coordinator provides general NCED
program support and is responsible for the planning, coordination and implementation of
meetings and for marketing and community outreach. The position is responsible for data entry,
generation of reports for assigned project(s), and program records maintenance and
destruction. The position assists with writing of new and continuing grant proposals. The
position typically reports to a Project Manager, or Senior Manager, or the NCED Director.

Range 3 – Project Manager
The Project Manager is responsible for planning and coordinating project activities, making
decisions on budget expenditure, and tracking project progress and results. The position
manages professional relationships both within the NCED, project participants, and funding
agencies. The position serves as principle investigator for the project and is responsible for
development of competitive proposals, continuation proposal, and all project reporting. The
position will often supervise students, project coordinators, and associate project coordinators.
The position may report to a Senior Project Manager or the NCED Director.
Range 4 – Senior Project Manager
The Senior Project Manager must efficiently and effectively plan and execute projects by
balancing internal and external stakeholder interests. The incumbent must understand both the
needs of the funding agency as well as those of constituents being served and simultaneously
manage the dynamics of their changing needs. The position is responsible for overall project
management for multiple and/or complex projects. This includes supervision of staff, in
accordance with guidelines and timelines established by funding agencies. The incumbent
manages project resource allocation and provides budget oversight to ensure scope of work
and project deliverables are met. The position reports to the NCED Director.

Range 1 – Associate Project Coordinator
60% - Project Coordination
 Monitor project deliverables and timelines, notify the Project Director when issues arise,
and take corrective actions as needed
 Serve as a resource for the assigned project area for both internal and external
customers
 Assist in creating, editing, and disseminating marketing materials
 Understand the needs of clients and project mission and assist with the orientation and
development of new clients
30% - Communication
 Maintain positive relationships with all project participants or partners and assist them
with issues or concerns
10% - Reporting
 Document activities and develop feedback report to communicate project findings and
activities to Project Director
 Maintain data process, i.e., tool development, data entry into appropriate data bases,
scheduling and assurance of appropriate tracking, storage and destruction of records to
ensure confidentiality

Range 2 – Project Coordinator (in addition to R1 duties above)
50% - Project Coordination
 Identify, implement and monitor continuous quality improvement (CQI) and internal
quality controls (IQC) processes for activities
35% - Communication
 Organize meetings between NCED and project client(s) and meetings with the other
departments and/or agencies to ensure all the departments cooperate and the work
flows smoothly
 Organize, lead and facilitate project-related activities and meetings, including the
creation of agendas, preparation of materials, and collection of evaluation data.
10% - Budget Management and Reporting
 Document activities and develop feedback report to communicate project findings and
activities to Project Director
 Complete and submit fiscal reports to the Project Director to track budget expenses
 Contribute to and develop progress reports and continuation of proposals in area(s) of
responsibility as assigned by the Project Director
5% - Grant Writing
 Assist in the development of new funding proposals with oversight by Director
Range 3 – Project Manager (in addition to above Range 2 duties)
50% - Project Coordination and Leadership
 Collaborate with internal and external partners to negotiate and implement project goals
 Schedule the complete work plan and maintain the paperwork of the project
 Prepare presentations and meet with project clients to discuss and carry out project
mission
 Work with community partners and funding agencies to identify subjects to participate in
the project; ensure parental consent for participation; collaborate on assignment of
participants and control group of students
 Participate as a coach and observer in classrooms with students enrolled in the project
and urge teachers and parents to follow instructional behavioral model for changing and
improving student challenges.
 Develop and deliver training activities as required by the project.
10% - Communication
 Communicate and resolve issues about contractual and implementation aspects of the
project(s) with faculty, staff, parents, and community members
 Provide updates and information about the project to relevant stakeholders
20% - Budget Management and Reporting
 Ensure that all expenditures for the project budget follow the policies and guidelines set
by the granting agency to maximize the delivery of project deliverables as outlined within
the project scope of work
 Gather and assess data on randomized selection and control group on child behavior
improvement
 Complete and submit required reports in a timely manner

Range 2-4 will be involved in making decision about the best approach to respond to and
implement strategies to accomplish the goals and objectives of the grant projects; communicate
with funders, and participants; and budget decisions. Range 2 will have input into the decision.
Range 3 will typically make the decision with input from the NCED Director. Range 4 will make
decisions independently. Range 1 will implement the strategies determined by the other faculty.
4. Describe the types of problems, issues, action, communications this position typically
takes to the supervisor for resolution and/or consultation. Provide examples. If a line of
progression, describe the supervisory consultation at the highest level.
Range 1 faculty will bring problems issues to supervising faculty that required new solutions or
adaptations of existing practice or procedures. Range 2-4 will typically resolve problems within
their projects that are within the scope of work defined by the goals and objective of the project
with more independence moving up the ranges. All faculty would bring issues to the Director to

resolve issues that might challenge the relationship with funding sources or might be in conflict
with university policy.
