1. Summary Statement: State the major function(s) of the position and its role in the
university. Attach an organizational chart with positions, ranges, and names for the division
which reflects the position in it as well as those supervised in the department. (This section is
used for advertisement of the position.)
Reporting to the Director of the School of Social Work (SSW), the Program Coordinator, Nevada
Training Partnership (NTP), oversees the day-to-day operations of the NTP. This includes monitoring
the budget and ensuring that all contract deliverables are met. The NTP Program Coordinator
provides training and supervision for community outreach trainers, classified staff, and student
workers. The incumbent collaborates with University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) School of Social
Work, the Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS), and the Washoe and Clark County
jurisdictions in refining and delivering the Nevada Core Curriculum on child welfare, as well as
specialty curricula as contracted. The position includes ongoing participation in the Training
Management Team (TMT) and other contract-related meetings/workgroups. In addition to the NTP
duties, the position coordinates all activities of the stipend program that recruits students and
eventually results in employment with a sponsor or repayment of the stipend.

50% - Project Administration
 Supervises Community Outreach Trainers (COT) and classified staff, as well as student
employees associated with NTP
 Chairs University of Nevada, Reno’s (UNR) NTP team meetings
 Chairs searches associated with filling NTP faculty/ classified staff openings
 In partnership with DCFS, the county child welfare service jurisdictions, and UNLV contributes
to the development of a statewide, evidence-informed, competency-based child welfare
training program
 Represents NTP/SSW through involvement with on-campus and community-based
committees/organizations
 Serves as UNR’s NTP primary liaison to various NPT committees and workgroups (e.g., TMT,
program evaluation, curricula review/refinement workgroups)
 Monitor and maintain NTP budgets
 Oversees timely completion of contract deliverables
 Coordinates the involvement of external stakeholders (e.g., foster parents) and content
experts in training activities
 Provides presentations and workshops regarding Nevada’s child welfare services, programs,
policies
 Participates in the development of statewide training plans and reports
20% - Child Welfare Stipend (i.e., Title IV-E Forgivable Loan) Program
 In coordination with UNLV, DCFS and the county jurisdictions, develops and implements
cutting edge recruitment strategies for Nevada’s statewide child welfare stipend program
 Anticipates and resolves complex problems relating to eligibility, employment, “hire-ability,”
and stipend payback
 Works in conjunction with UNR SSW’s Field Education Program Coordinator in identifying
potential BSW and MSW child welfare stipend students and ensuring coordination of field
placement assignments with stipend awards
 Tracks and analyzes stipend program recruitment and retention efforts
 Prepares semi- and annual stipend program reports re: recruitment, retention, and compliance

With field education supervisors and faculty liaisons, provides ongoing mentoring for child
welfare stipend students
20% - Training of Trainers
 Provides ongoing on-the-job training and supervisory support, (i.e., direct observation, taping,
coaching)
 Coordinates internal (UNR’s) curriculum review and revision endeavors
 Develops individualized, annual COT professional development plans
10% - Evaluation
 Serves as principal or co-investigator in applied research projects
 Provides leadership in tracking and analyzing NPT program endeavors—including
assessments of the competency-based training curricula, the impact of training on practice,
and ultimately the effect of practice changes on agency outcomes
3. Describe the level of freedom to take action and make decisions with or without
supervision and how the results of the work performed impact the department, division and/or
the university as a whole.
The work performance, decisions and judgment of the Program Coordinator are critical to the success
of the program in terms of meeting the goals of the contract, and the university’s ability to contribute to
the refinement and expansion of a statewide, evidence-informed, performance-based child welfare
training program. The individual influences the probability of expanding current and future funding as
well as developing related future projects representing the university, division and school. The
individual must be flexible, take initiative, and work independently with little direct supervision and with
considerable latitude for initiative and independent judgment.

and the School of Social Work have within the community. Inadequate performance may result in
delays or inefficiencies in the administration of the program. The judgments of and decisions made by
this position impact the unit’s ability to provide quality programs and services which are critical to the
School’s success in disseminating accurate and up-to-date information to and training its customers.
Errors could result in loss or reduction in funding or even discontinuation of the contract.
