1. Summary Statement: State the major function(s) of the position and its role in the university. Attach an organizational chart with positions, ranges, and names for the division which reflects the position in it as well as those supervised in the department.
The Instructional Technology Manager provides leadership for planning, design, installation, and maintenance of instructional technology in all university classrooms, as well as technology support for university events and meetings such as the Pre sident’s State of the University address and Board of
Regents meetings. The position reports to the Director of Teaching and Learning Technologies.
2. List the major responsibilities, including percentage of time devoted to each. Provide enough detail to enable a person outside the department to understand the job.
40% - Supervise professional and classified staff who are responsible for the installation, programming, and maintenance of all classroom technology and for the access grid node.
25% - Coordinate the technical support activities of staff that assist faculty and students in the use of instructional technology. Instructional technology may be fixed in 80+ classrooms (level 4) or may be delivered to classrooms on campus. Troubleshoot technology problems that occur in the classrooms.
20% - Design technology systems and facilities. Provide technology project consultation and oversight of University staff and outside contractors for renovations, upgrades and new construction projects that include instructional technology.
5% - Organize and present training sessions for faculty in the use of instructional technology.
Training sessions include but are not limited to new faculty, teaching assistants, and academic faculty by departments.
5% - Participate in the staffing of the service point for Classroom Support Services. Interact with faculty and students to understand and anticipate their instructional technology needs.
5% - Provide policy guidance to the Director of Teaching and Learning Technologies with respect to the use of instructional technology on campus.

performed impact the department, division and/or the university as a whole.
Because the primary area of responsibility for the position is instructional support, decisions have a campus wide impact. The position makes decisions about use of instructional technologies in the classroom, which directly and significantly impact the students and faculty. In the case of technology project consultation responsibilities, decisions have both instructional and budgetary impacts. Through system design, equipment specification and project management activities, the position influences and helps to manage budgets considerably above $100,000. The position is called upon to provide direct support for campus special events and projects including Board of Regents meetings, The
President’s State of the University addresses, and various U.S. presidential election rallies.

Regular, daily interaction with teaching faculty in training and support role. Present workshops and individually instruct faculty in the proper use of instructional technology; assist faculty in improving their instructional delivery techniques.
Regular, daily contact with students in the appropriate use of instructional technology.
Daily interaction with faculty and staff in Teaching and Learning Technologies. It is necessary to work collaboratively with Video, Photo and Instructional Design personnel.
Weekly interaction with University Special Events, Marketing and Communications, Facilities
Services.
Irregular contact with other media and instructional technology providers on campus, e.g. Multimedia
Center, Computing Help Desk, Desktop Services Support Center, Learning Resource Center,
Scheduling Services, JTSU operations and events, Excellence in Teaching Program, and various computer lab personnel for the purpose of sharing information and resources.

Bachelor
’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with emphasis in instructional technology or educational technology

b. Minimum type and amount of work experience, in addition to the above required education necessary for a person entering this position.
Bachelor’s Degree and two years of professional experience in a higher educations setting to include providing direct technical support for instructional technology, coordinating instructional technology projects, supervision and training others in the use of instructional technology.
