Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. 1. Range 3: The Clinical Social Worker is an administrative faculty member in the Department of Counseling Services and provides a full range of clinical social work and psychotherapy services to a diverse population of students. The incumbent provides psychotherapy and campus outreach programs and presentations. The majority of work is accomplished via a one-to-one interpersonal relationship with students, but contacts sometimes extend to family, faculty, and other professional members of the community. The position reports to the Director, Counseling Services and is supervised clinically by a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Range 4: When licensed, this clinician would additionally provide clinical supervision and training to trainees within the department. * Attach an organizational chart with positions, ranges, and names for the division. 2. Range 3 –Clinical Social Worker 70% - Direct Clinical Service Conduct individual and group psychotherapy Conduct intake assessments and crisis intervention Conduct specialized, empirically-validated treatments for student clients who express moderate to severe suicidality 20% - Indirect Clinical Service and Training Maintain records in compliance with professional, legal and ethical standards 1 Line of Progression - Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Clinical Social Worker Participate in case management discussions and receive individual and group supervision. Participate in professional development geared towards honing skills for the performance of job duties 10% - Clinical Consultation, Service Coordination, and Outreach Assist in discharge planning with local emergency services including hospitals, as needed. Develop and provide campus outreach programs and presentations on topics supportive of student success and well-being Range 4 – Licensed Clinical Social Worker (in addition to Range 3 duties above) 60% - Direct Clinical Service Facilitate on and off-campus referrals and provide mental health consultations to diverse campus constituencies 15% - Indirect Clinical Service and Training Provide direct clinical supervision of one or more social work graduate student trainees and participate in facilitating training program Provide training for all clinical staff and trainees on variable topics consistent with experience and expertise. Provide case management in collaboration with Counseling Services staff, along with on and off-campus professionals 25% - Clinical Consultation, Service Coordination, and Outreach Serve as a community resource and referral person for the University, to address specific acute and chronic student support and service needs 3. The Clinical Social Worker, both in direct service and in the training of others, makes independent clinical decisions and judgments directly affecting the health and welfare of students counseled. The individual makes independent and immediate decisions when facilitating and conducting individual and group psychotherapy sessions in order to maintain a safe environment for all those involved. The position develops and recommends campus outreach programs on topics supportive of student success and well-being to supervisor. Decisions are made by analyzing and evaluating policy and using knowledge gained from education and experience in order to assist students in the most efficient and safe way. 4. Sound professional judgments contribute to safety and psychological well-being of students as well as to the University's goals of increased enrollment and retention of students. The incumbent would bring unprecedented problems or unusual circumstances to the supervisor for 2 Line of Progression - Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Clinical Social Worker higher level resolution, such as in the case of high possibility suicidal clients which would impact the university and community at large. The position must be able to recognize the urgency of the situation and bring it to the Director immediately. Unsound professional judgments could lead to a loss of life or to malpractice suits against the employee and/or the university. 5.
