Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. 1. The School of Community Health Sciences, Center for Child Health Services Research is responsible for building a data warehouse of children’s health data and creating a child health registry that will follow children born in Reno throughout their childhood. The purpose of the project is to have data that is fundamental for academic and economic research into children’s health. The Data Manager will be responsible for the development and maintenance of health data warehouses to support research. This position will work with programs to develop appropriate data collection systems and will be responsible for managing electronic data interchange (EDI) between various applications and data sources and ensuring HIPPA compliance. This includes data extraction to and from third party applications as well as the mapping, integrating and uploading of data from various sources to the warehouse including local and statewide data. The manager will oversee data integrity in the warehouses and serve as a resource for data structures and queries. * Attach an organizational chart with positions, ranges, and names for the division. 2. The Data Manager makes decisions and judgments concerning table structures that need to be designed, developed, and maintained for data storage as well as proper extraction methodology. Autonomy and independent action are required on a daily basis within the framework of established protocols, HIPPA and IT best practices. The manager is responsible for the overall structure for the data warehouse in collaboration with other IT professionals and functional data owners. The data manager’s decisions can impact ease in obtaining data and ability to gather information that integrates data from the multiple databases. Given the disparity in the way health professionals may gather data nationally, the incumbent must identify compliant and efficient methods of gathering and producing data. 4. If a line of progression, describe the supervisory consultation at the highest level. Management drives the overall type of health data and output expected; however, the incumbent serves as the expert in guiding the back end technical requirements.
