Essential Function: Medium Work
Description: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently,
and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Medium work
requires walking or standing to a significant degree and pushing and/or pulling.

The Coordinator, Technology (COB) is responsible for directing the operations of the College’s
information technology (IT) systems that support the work and research of students, faculty, and
staff. The incumbent collaborates with College administration and faculty to identify and
implement new software, determine the College’s IT strategic plan, and develop curriculum
around the use of existing and emerging technologies. The Coordinator acts as a liaison
between the College and the University’s Information Technology community and outside
vendors.

30% - Innovation for Teaching Technology
 Investigate and seek opportunities to enhance use of IT to deliver education
 Develop project requirements for computer labs and develop proposals for funding new
technology and educational aids
 Research and develop methods to customize existing technology to meet faculty and
student needs
 Develop and implement internship and independent study opportunities for students to
gain experience in IT field
 Develop existing and implement new hardware and software to support instruction
25% - Strategic Planning
 Participate in overall strategic planning for IT needs, platforms, resources and related
 Research and plan usage, demand, new space needs, etc., to assist the Dean’s office
with strategic planning from IT perspective

Continually identify new technologies, respond to needs, and work with faculty to
implement the use of IT in the curricular process and facilitate the role of technology in
curricular streamlining
Provide budget oversight for technology needs, and develop funding requests to COB
and IT
Consult with faculty on resource and space allocation needs
Manage business continuity including disaster recovery plans, testing and actions
Coordinate activities with administrative management team
25% - IT Management for College of Business
 Provide consultation and recommendations for COB resources, classroom and space
allocation
 Design, customize and support specialized applications for classroom, network, and labs
(i.e., SAS, SPSS, SAP and MS Office, etc.)
 Research, plan, organize, and install new technology
 Oversee COB IT operations
 Act as liaison between COB and University IT to ensure compatibility with university
systems and compliance with University and IT computer regulations and policies
 Act as liaison between COB and vendors of software, hardware, and related
components
10% - Faculty and Student Software Support
 Develop and generate customized and established reports from faculty management
system (i.e. Digital Measures, etc.)
 Administer SharePoint application used to support accreditation and other project-based
activities
 Provide support for internal surveys and course evaluations
10% - Server Administration
 Manage Windows server administration for onsite server room and offsite location (Small
Business Development Center) in a virtualized environment including a variety of
services (i.e., SQL Server, SharePoint, web, file, print, etc.)
 Establish a plan for the replacement and upgrade of servers

The Coordinator, Technology (COB) is responsible for independently investigating new
technologies, ideas, and best practices that may benefit the College of Business’s IT operations.
Decisions regarding new and updated IT systems are made in conjunction with the College’s
administration in order to adequately meet faculty, student, and classroom needs. The
Coordinator develops funding requirements for all IT requests; however, there is significant input
and discussion with the supervisor prior to any capital decisions.

The Coordinator, Technology (COB) is required to take all personnel and budget issues to the
College’s Coordinator, Budget & Personnel for assistance and resolution. Requests for
software and hardware made by faculty members must first be approved by the dean prior to
purchase and implementation.
