Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. 1. The Coordinator, Internship and Professional Experience, develops programs and resources to assist University of Nevada, Reno students in their development toward becoming workforceready professionals. The Coordinator focuses on the development of high-quality, outcomesaligned internships and professional development programs both on campus and in the community. Such programs include the drop-in career advising program in which University students can receive help with career decision-making, preparation, and job search from trained staff and student mentors. This position works closely with the Assistant Director and the Coordinator, Internship and Employer Relations to plan and implement initiatives that further the mission of the Career Studio to equip all Nevada students with the tools and strategies to navigate their careers with clarity, competence and confidence. This position has a special emphasis on students in Liberal Arts, Science, Health, and Agriculture/Biotechnology/Natural Resources. * Attach an organizational chart with positions, ranges, and names for the division. 2. If line of progression, define for each range as above. 50% - Internship Program Development Develops and facilitates innovative, multidisciplinary, experiential career preparation programs, including internship programs, courses, job shadow experiences, and professional development coaching Creates new, or strengthens existing, relationships with departments across campus to help design, develop, and revitalize on campus student employment opportunities and internships Contributes to the planning and execution of large annual and biannual Career Studio events 1 Coordinator, Experiential Education and Outreach Creates content for the Internships section of the website, including forms, policies, and resources for students and employers 40% - Program Coordination and Student Outreach Manages the day-to-day operations of the Career Studio’s drop-in peer advising program Provides development, implementation, and oversight of a program of ongoing professional development and training for Career Mentors (approximately 12 University students); coordinates the recruitment, training, and supervision of Career Mentors Develops materials and strategy for increasing awareness and engagement in the Career Studio’s programs, advising offerings, and events Conducts targeted outreach to diverse student groups and student professional organizations, both internal and external to the University, in order to facilitate programming that meets students’ distinct needs Develops resources for and provides assistance to students seeking campus employment and engagement Assists with the design and presentation of career education and professional development workshops (approximately 15-20 per semester) to student audiences ranging from new student orientation to graduation Creates career development resources for students regarding the job-search process, interviewing, resume and letter writing, and all other facets of career planning 10% - Program Assessment Assesses and evaluates the outcomes achievement and effectiveness of internship and other professional experience programs Implements a system for registering client intake at drop-in hours, generating data reports to show how many and which students utilize drop-in hours, and how this impacts their longer-term outcomes Gathers data, conducts analyses and presents clean, accurate data reports to management 3. As a member of the Career Studio team, the Coordinator has autonomy to create, manage, and assess innovative internship and professional experience programs and other career development efforts for the Career Studio. The Coordinator is expected to independently make decisions regarding content for career education and professional development workshops and in the content of information disseminated to students. The Coordinator is responsible for a high level of coordination and communication with students, staff, and faculty with general oversight by the supervisor. The Coordinator’s decisions and actions impact student enrollment, persistence, graduation, and transition into professional employment. 2 Coordinator, Experiential Education and Outreach 4. Day-to-day management decisions within the Coordinator’s scope of responsibility may be made autonomously, but decisions related to program direction and new strategic initiatives will be accomplished in consultation with the Assistant Director. Program planning related to internships will be developed collaboratively with the Coordinator, Internships and Employer Relations. 5.
