include leading comprehensive psychosocial assessment, planning, community referrals, and
navigation services to elders across Northern Nevada. The position directs community and social
services for the SCA Geriatric Clinic, supervises program coordinators for SCA community outreach

3. Describe the level of freedom to take action and make decisions with or without
supervision and how the results of the work performed impact the department, division and/or
the university as a whole.
Level of Freedom:
The Associate Director leads the psychosocial and community-based services offered by SCA, both
within the Geriatric Clinic and through community outreach programs, and is central in the Clinic
planning effort, and ultimately is a clinical leader in providing supervision and coordination of all
aspects of the SCA Geriatric Clinic’s psychosocial and community services. Using good professional
judgment, the position is authorized to make all decisions relating to geriatric assessment and care
coordination services, in consultation with the SCA Director and Clinic team, which will be essential to
the success of the initiative.
Impact:
Overall, the position is highly complex, both in terms of knowledge, skills and impact both on the
community and University. It is also a highly visible position in terms of community relations. The
reputation of SCA on campus, in the community and across Nevada, will be determined by the
successful development, launch and maintenance of high-quality clinical services. The work of the

community programs is dependent upon the quality and quantity of efforts. Effective grant
